Talking about Waiting for the Barbarians, it is a worth reading novel written by twice Booker Prize winner novelist, linguistic and critic J.M.Coetzee.  "Pain is truth; all else is subject to doubt"   - J.M.Coetzee, Waiting for the Barbarians  Waiting for Barbarians is not that much fantastic novel which deals with magical realism and so on but it can be considered as fable of post-colonial literature as well as it can also be viewed as within the context of the development of literary allegory. It is the story of people who are considered as 'Other' by civilized people. Once in every generation, without fail, there is an episode of hysteria about the bar...

During this I learnt that “Literature holds up a mirror to the society”. Recently I read Chetan Bhgat’s best-selling novel “One Night @ The Call Centre”.   Now let me tell you little about this particular novel, how it helps me in becoming better me. Though I heard about   Chetan Bhagat as a voice of young India, never read any of his work. This was for the first time I read ON@TCC. Have you ever think about a bollywood scene of   having a cup of hot tea/coffee in winter night and you are reading something which smoothen your mind with having a storyline that provide you a lesson to come across certain problems in your life. Sunday Reading: Literature and Religion We used to give many metaphors to literature such as  a very famous is that ‘Literature is mirror of society’. It projects the virtues of society and ill side of society as well. It is also widely said that it is an imitation of human action; here one thing that we all have to keep in mind is that literature is not only a reflection of society but it is a corrective mirror as well which demands us to bring some positive changes rather than following blind beliefs.  Because of this we can always find a conflict between religion and literature, literature helps in broaden our horizon whereas religion encroaches it. Though the religion is all about myth and narratives which are known to us and we follow it without thinking rationally. Religion blinds a man very strongly that he/she might not able to think rationaly or to question anything. Where as poetry as a part of literature, it is a criticism of life; aims to make p...
