Thomas Stearns Eliot was born in America to family where tradition was in the commerce and academic studies.Eliot, educated at Harvard and settling in England in 1915 and acquiring citizenship in 1927,went on to become the editor of the imagist periodical .He wrote prins like , The wasteland, Hollow men,Love song of J.Alfred ,prufrock etc. Beside ,the peoms he also wrote a number of plays like Murder in the cathedral,The famliy reunion etc.

The poem starts with a tone of empathy for the displaced followed by an encouraging tone only to be replaced with his characteristic dark irony signifying the spiritual senselessness of physical action.

Wherever a man may be ,there is one place he yearns to be and the place is his home and hearth, for the food cooked by his wife.He wishes to sit at his door peacefully enjoying the sunset and watch his grandchildren playing in the dust with the grandchildren of his neighbour.these feelings are of a solider after the war is over.

A solider is not destined to remain in his native land or die there.his destiny may take him away from his native place to a foreign land.If a country is home to one man,it is excil to another. The country where the soldier dies fighting becomes his home land, while his own could try becomes a foreign land.

'Destination' is a place where one like to reach. it's man's home land ,his village, his home and his family.whoever goes to alien land would like to return to such a place, his own home, his own land.this poem emphasizes the fact that a man's destiny may take him away from destination. In each country we have natives who feel at home and people at countries who feel at ease.

Eliot is saying that where you come from is important:

"A man's destination is his own village,
His own fire, and his wife cooking".

But who you are is much more important than this:A man's destination is not his destiny, every country is home to one man and excited to another.Eliot is saying that we would not ask why Indians troops were fighting in Africa.they were heroes-tgey died in a just and necessary war.they died, and we're buried, alongside english heroes.Eliot says that,

"This was not your land,or ours but a
Village in the midlands, and one in
The five rivers, may hve the same
                    Graveyard".

Where they came from ,where they died-these things may be important ,but the most important thing is that they does as heroes.Tgey were heroes first,Indians nationals second.

We see the soldiers at the end of his career has luckily survived the war in spite of receiving many scars on the battlefield.he has memories of the war and of the foreign soldier.he met during away from their homeland.these memories come to him when conversing with people.

Conclusion:
The peot declares that every man has his claim on a domestic life.the memorise of the displaced man come out in his dialogue with foreign men like him in the foreign shores of the battleground.since desire is not fate, the place where aman dies bravely is his home.
