Reflective Blog: Expert Lectures on ELT by Prof. Atanu Bhattacharya sir


We acquire language in childhood in form of picking up certain sounds and gradually we move to be fluent speaker of any language, it seems that this process is not less than mechanism. Language can even becomes a weapon in creating either reality or falsify anything. In order to clarify or providing better understanding of various concepts of ELT, very insightful lectures were delivered at department of English by ELT expert #Prof_Atanu_Bhattacharya_sir, organized by Dr.Dilip Barad Sir.
In order to clarify the present knowledge it is necessary to go back to its root, and so the sir truly did. By providing a productive information on education shifting in Renaissance period, sir discussed a various concepts and methods of ELT as well as lighten on why literature should be incorporated in ESL/EFL curriculum. There are many techniques which are used in teaching ELT though learning basic skills and language area by using literature as a technique is nowadays a very famous in foreign language learning. ELT – Historical Perspective
In the very first lecture, sir introduced us with history of English Language Teaching as well as how the principles and Concepts of language learning differed in every age. The historical Perspective can be taught from classical perspective to how it emerges in 20th Century.
  1.           Classical
  2.           Middle Ages
  3.           12th – 15th Century
  4.             Renaissance
  5.            17th-18th and 19th Centuries
  6.            19th and early 20th Centuries

During 19th and early 20th Century Natural and Direct Methods are predominated, before it mainly the methods of language learning could be found in oral form.
