Post-truth is named as the word of the year 2016 by oxford dictionary. It defines Post truth as...
“relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”
The word post truth is attributed two main global events:
1)Donald Trump set to take the white house
2) U.K. on the precipice of leaving the European Union.
Post truth is usually describes a situation in which the importance of actual facts is replaced by emotional state of mind for influencing public opinion. It can be also said that the term post truth was popularized with the publication of the book ‘The Post truth era’(2004) written by Ralph Keyes
Nowadays we live in the era of the post truth where people are quite happy to believe untruths. The real idea or the real meaning of truth was lost in this era. Common people always have been manipulated by the powerful people or we can say that by the politicians. They always used their power or position to make people believe this is the correct “truth” which itself is untruth.
Example: The election of an American president Donald Trump who frequently lies. And the another is Brexit. His success is totally based on falsehood.
